Description:
Described in Yachting World as ingenious, the Berwick design continued the immensely successful Giles/Westerly theme of good solid spacious cruisers and the 31 was indeed big enough to provide good accommodation without becoming (by the then standards) too boxy looking. She had the weight and capacity to stay at sea for long extended passages and can be motor-sailed effectively. I...

Westerly’s are renowned for being solid boats with a an easy to control sailing performance. This example has a been well kept but is now in need of some cosmetic TLC. The boat overall is in great condition with a lot of handy extras recently fitted.
Most importantly is that she does benefit from a new engine that was fitted in 2017 and still has low hours. This has had its yearly servicing and last year had bearings replaced.
With a good clean and polish this could make an excellent versatile boat.
These boat details are subject to contract.

Based on the Westerly Longbow, the Berwick's innovative design has the benefit of good sailing characteristics, whilst also designed to be capable of motorcruising for long periods of time.
The hull form is similar to the popular Centaur, with bilge keels and a skeg hung rudder the boat can sail shoaling waters, even drying out comfortably. The Berwick is spacious inside and out, with a deep, roomy cockpit giving a safe feeling and also side and fore decks that don't feel awkward when moving around and working the boat.
Down below the accommodation is comfortable, with 6 berths, tw...

This Westerly is a fantastic example and ready for her next owner to jump aboard and sail away. The current owners have spent thousands to bring her up to a very high standard and have had a no expense spared attitude. She is now exceptional for her age and requires nothing apart from a new owner to enjoy. She has had her standing rigging replaced 4 years ago with new Lazy Jack cover and spray hood replaced. The hull was completely renovated and epoxied at a cost of over £7k two years ago which makes her a very sound buy indeed without anything to worry about below the water line. 2 year...

The Westerly range - one of the most famous names in British boat building history who defined the cruising yacht market in the 1970's and 80's - and they most certainly have relevance today. Appreciated for their robustness of construction (Lloyds approved), spacious interiors and powerful engines, Westerly's are iconic in sailing circles. The Konsort was the inspiration of Jack Laurent Giles who, as Westerly's main designer for the era, had the remit to create a modern yacht with maximised interior volume and a cruising performance - he certainly achieved this in the Kon...
